OUR SOCIAL IMPACT

We strive actively in making a difference in our society, with belief that when one component of our society thrives, many other aspects flourish and lead to greater changes. With a great deal of influence in our society, we play a role in creating future leaders and providing skills and social development. Our actions exceed the economic dimension and transcend into other areas including the social dimension.

Mahlako is a key player in fostering access for Women and Black Professionals within the energy sector with an aim of achieving broad economic transformation.

BEPA was established in 2017 by our founders to embolden black professional participation and address their aspirations in the energy sector, which continues to thrive and plays a significant role in growing the South African economy. To date, some of BEPA’s key contributions include:

  • Commercialisation of the Green Hydrogen Strategy for South Africa.
  • Drafting the South African Renewable Energy Masterplan (SAREM) by the DMRE.
  • Participating in the SANEDI Energy Services Company (ESCO) Engaging with the Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme Offices.

SAICA TRAINING PROGRAMME

We offer a three-year training programme accredited by the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA).

Committed to providing holistic on-the-job experience that will equip our future leaders with a pool of technical and professional skills that mould them into exceptional and well-rounded Chartered Accountants. Our trainees work closely with advisory, investment and asset management teams to execute a wide variety of challenging and exciting engagements related to the planning, development, delivery and operations of major economic and social infrastructure projects.

ABSIP BURSARY SCHEME

Playing a part of investing in and transforming the lives of young people, we have awarded bursaries to students based in Limpopo through donations to the Association of Black Securities and Investment Professionals (ABSIP) Bursary Scheme, which supports disadvantaged black students who possess academic excellence, an interest to pursue financial services careers and wish to begin their tertiary careers.

We believe this opportunity contributes to building leaders that shape the future of our Financial Services industry and our broader economy.

MAHLAKO INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME

We provide an Internship Programme to young graduates in the field of Commerce, Science, Technology, Engineering and Arts. We offer training in the planning, development, delivery and operation of major economic and social infrastructure projects. The graduates receive industry exposure through rotations in the Advisory, Financial Services, and Investments divisions; and also hands-on experience through collaboration with other team members in delivering our services to clients, as well as identifying and exploring new business opportunities.
